Bright, fresh, and clearly original this earliest one dollar Legal Tender type has the freshness of paper and color as if it were printed earlier today, as opposed to over 150 years ago. Held to the 64 grade only by its top margin, otherwise, we would be looking at an unquestioned Gem. Considerably tougher than the Fr. 16, this note is about 4x rarer! An absolute trophy in any state of preservation, but this Salmon P. Chase one point shy of Gem is nothing shy of impressive.
