A beautiful and very fresh example of this early $5 Legal, this piece displays wonderful color and fully original paper surfaces. If not for its left margin being just a touch tight, this well preserved New Series 57 note would have likely garnered a full Gem grade from PMG. Although Fr. 63 is not a particularly rare number, with a total of 259 pieces known according to the most recent census, the note becomes quite rare in high grade. PMG and PCGS combined have graded only three 65s, with just four notes higher; therefore, if you're hoping for a Gem, it might be a while and be prepared to pay. Otherwise, the wait stops today with this gorgeous and attractively-priced second obligation five.
