PMG has graded only four Fr. 281 notes higher. This is a well margined and nicely centered example of the final signature combination for the heavily collected Chief design. It is a fully margined plate letter Dexample with bright paper and vibrant color. The census tells us that this Friedberg number in the grade of PMG 66 EPQ was most recently sold by Heritage in 2025 for $13,200. This Gem 65 EPQ example's third printing of both serial numbers, the Treasury Seal, and the large blue V counter produced strong embossing in the unprinted areas of the back. Back plate number 1296 is found in the mule position at back upper right to the immediate left of the 5 counter.
