Joseph Barr STAR PACK
During the final days of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration, his Secretary of the Treasury, Henry H. Fowler, resigned. Since no new currency could be printed without an acting Secretary, President Johnson quickly appointed Joseph W. Barr to this cabinet post. Since Johnson’s term was about to expire, Barr’s tenure would last only 28 days. It was the shortest tenure in the history of the United States Treasury!
As such, notes with his engraved signature on them are wildly popular amongst collectors. Individual star examples sell frequently for $80 - $100 with true packs of 100 consecutive stars quite scarce as many of the limited number of "pack" survivors are actually two or more different runs of serial numbers...meaning the pack is not fully sequential. Even so, it can be many years or even a decade between public auction opportunities and recent examples have sold for more than $3k.
We're pleased to have this offering of 100 consecutive star notes with the as-shown strap preserved in pristine condition from this series.
