$1 1928-B Silver Certificate ★ STAR – “Funny Back”
Fr. 1602 • Woods–Mills • Early Small-Size Replacement Note*
A desirable star replacement from the earliest era of small-size Silver Certificates, this $1 1928-B Star Note (Fr. 1602*) represents one of the scarcer and more collectible varieties of the popular “Funny Back” series.
These notes are nicknamed “Funny Backs” because of their ornate, highly stylized reverse design—strikingly different from the modern $1 bill and produced for only a short period. The bold blue overprints on the face paired with the decorative back artistry make these a long-standing collector favorite.
Signed by Woods–Mills, this note comes from a transitional period as the U.S. finalized its shift from large-size to small-size currency. As the image shows, there are a couple edge nicks. As always, please review the provided images to determine if this note will be an ideal addition to your collection.
A strong example of an early Funny Back Star Note, perfect for type collectors, replacement-note specialists, or anyone building out the foundational years of small-size U.S. paper money.
