$5 1882-BB The Deseret National Bank of Salt Lake City, UT Ch# 2059 BROWN BACK PMG Ch Fine 15

A pleasing Utah $5 Brown Back, this note would be an ideal candidate to represent the Beehive State in a type set. The well margined piece displays nice color for the grade, bold stamped signatures, and original surfaces.

The seal used on this note differs from the Territorial seal used on Territorials and First Charter state issue notes, and is based on the state seal which was adopted on April 3, 1896. The seal's central motif is a shield containing the iconic Utah beehive, topped by the word "Industry", and with the date 1847, the year of the first Mormon settlement below. The shield is surrounded by the state and American flags and topped by an eagle with upraised wings and at the bottom is a banner with the word "Utah".
